Perennial Favorites

We recently attended a perennial seminar by Mike Heger, a local plant guru, who has been growing perennials for 40 years. Here are some of his favorites that we will be offering this season:

  • 'Ghost' Fern
  • 'Burning Hearts' Bleeding Hearts
  • 'Totally Tangerine' Geum
  • 'Frosted Violet' Heuchera
  • 'Bartzella' Peony
  • 'Dark Towers' Penstemon
  • 'Stairway to Heaven' Polemonium
  • Polygatum 'Variegatum'

'Frosted Violet' is a vigorous grower which emerges deep maroon-purple, then matures to deep plum-purple. Fine hairs cover the leaves, giving them a "frosted" look. Pink flowers. 20-30 inches, grow in partial (afternoon) shade in a well-drained soil.
